Layers of Awareness - From Division to the Still Point |
In this world of endless sides, lines in the sand, and chaos swirling around us...it’s time to STOP giving our hearts away to systems that keep failing us.
Reader, you've been with me on this journey for some time, so you know my story—Romanian by birth, a decade in Canada, then returning home to heal deeper wounds with my mother.
And now, here I am, visiting New York in one of the most intense and polarizing times in history—the 2024 U.S. election.
I’ve watched people on both sides—those who hoped for Kamala and those who rooted for Trump—express their passions and pains.
I’ve listened to their perspectives, heard their fears, their dreams, and, most strikingly, the fierce way each side believes in its own truth. And yet, I can’t help but see how much this need to be right often overshadows our shared humanity, the deep need we all have: to FEEL SAFE.
I’ve never been drawn to politics or any system that attempts to box people in, labeling them as “good” or “bad.”
For me, it’s about seeing the person underneath—their heart, the child within who seeks safety, love, and belonging.
No matter which side someone is on, I’ve found that, deep down, there’s a human with a heart. There’s hope, vulnerability, and a need for connection.
And it’s only by seeing each other this way—heart to heart—that we can dissolve the separations between us.
So I’ve chosen not to take sides. Not because I’m indifferent, but because I believe that being on one side won’t lead us to true healing or unity.
My mission isn’t to play this game of “us versus them.”
My mission is to nurture a path of connection that transcends these lines we draw in the sand by politics or religion or other ideologies artificially created by humankind.
When I look around, I see how often we talk about acceptance and unity while hurling hurtful words at those who see things differently. This only builds more walls between us.
We need a shift. As Gandhi said, "Be the change you wish to see in the world." We can’t bring about love, peace, or justice by meeting hate with hate or division with more division.
The real power lies in softening our hearts, in seeing ourselves in the other person, even when we disagree.
So here’s my invitation to you:
Let’s STOP playing the game of choosing sides.
Let’s create a new way forward—a way that honors each other’s humanity.
Let’s see beyond the hurt caused, beyond the armor we each carry.
Together, let’s start a movement that isn’t about proving we’re right, but about nurturing heart-centered unity.
“Be the change you want to see in the world" - Ghandi
Journal Prompts for Finding Your Still Point Amidst Division:
- What does your heart need most right now to feel calm and centered?
- Is there a place where you feel a need to be “right” about something? What would it look like to let go of that need, even for a moment?
- Reflect on a recent disagreement or tension. How might you bring more compassion and understanding into this situation?
- Where can you recognize the humanity in those with different beliefs from yours? How does this perspective shift your feelings?
- Think of a moment when you felt truly connected to yourself and others. What did that feel like in your body? What steps can you take today to cultivate that feeling again?
- Consider what it means to “soften your heart.” Write about one way you could practice this today.
- Who in your life could benefit from a gesture of kindness or understanding? What would it look like to offer this from your heart, expecting nothing in return?
Where is your Still Point—your place of calm, clarity, and connection—even in a world that feels chaotic?
As we connect to our own hearts, we make space for others to do the same. We make space for the world to heal.
